So yeah.  I was planning on getting one of these much later in life, since they’re expensive as hell, but I came across one for super cheap online and just had to put down the coin.

It’s not a Wacom, but I can’t really complain since I’ve never used one.

The one I got is a a Genius 8 x 6 graphics tablet, and cost about fifty bucks.  I’ve always wanted to get into digital art, but as said before, because of the high cost of drawing tablets, left it as an afterthought.

So now that I’ve got a drawing tablet, it’s on!  I’ll sketch a bunch of things using digital ink!  Actually, I also wouldn’t mind making a webcomic too.  I have few ideas and strips that I’ve been wanting to do so I think I’ll give it a shot at least.

The problem?  I lack talent.  That, and the internet doesn’t need any more webcomics.  The last time I took drawing seriously was back in high school, and I’ve literally not drawn for over 5 years now.

It’s weird though, because some of the stuff I learned while drawing hasn’t left me though.  I can still take up a piece of paper and pencil and sketch guidelines and figures as if I had never stopped.  The reason I stopped drawing was because around the time my peers were way better at it than I was, and I let myself get discouraged.

I really shouldn’t have though, since there were probably twice as many people who drew and sucked at it than there were people who were better at it than me.  More importantly, that shouldn’t have any bearing on my desire to draw at all and I guess being a teenager I was way too unwise to realize that.

So I guess I’ll give it another shot, if not to see how well I could get if I really did take it seriously and draw because I want to and for myself and not just to impress my upperclassmen/use it for acceptance/social mileage or whathaveyou.

So yeah!  Not saying I’m going to make a webcomic, or even get back into drawing and take it as seriously as Street Fighter 3 players practice parrying, but I’m definitely going to try and I certainly would like to.
