April 12th, 2009 will mark the 6th Anniversary of Hyperguy.net.
It swells me with pride to have kept it up so long(LOL).
In all seriousness though, at this point I feel like I want to move on to something else. I feel like I’ve accomplished what I originally had intended back when I first made the site and that since then have pretty much just been hanging around.
Granted, previously the site didn’t have much of a rhyme or reason to it, at this point I’m really, really craving one, and I don’t think I can satisfy that notion here anymore. Read more

I’ve been doing nothing put playing World of Warcraft ever since Wrath of the Lich came out. I’ve already got 3 level 35 characters on a brand new server, and even helped found a large, active guild, which I also created a website for.

Dunno lol. I was irresponsible and left a link to a nonexistent gallery(that doesn’t exist and never will) on the site’s template.
So yeah, there’s no gallery. There never will be one, ever. Even though 2,000 people have already been to it, and may have bookmarked it already. Sorry guys, try again! Nice try! Gameshark and Game Genie won’t unlock it, because it doesn’t exist. So, please stop visiting the nonexistant gallery that doesn’t exist and never will, because it’s not there though it never was yet people have visited.

Carrerachan is a brand new image board I created to satisfy the need for a Viper image board and to also make up for the lack of image boards related to my interests of fighting games, mmos, 2D graphics, and visual novels. It runs on Kusaba 1.0.4 and is fitted with a custom template with colors taken directly from Carrera as she appears in Viper V6R.

I’ve been working on it since late last night. It took me a while to figure how I wanted to arrange its colors but after toiling at it for so long I think it’s finally starting to take shape.
You probably already noticed, but the navigation up top’s been reworked too. I’ve made it eaiser to find posts related to some of the more popular topics I’ve blogged about on Hyperguy.net. So say, for example you’d like to find all the posts related to Viper or Thunder Warrior Raidy. Just hover over the ‘Hentai’ link and a dropdown menu should appear that’ll allow you to view all posts related to that category, or just hit the ‘Hentai’ link itself to see them all! Wow! Like magic!
Okay, okay, I know that’s basic blog stuff. Still, I’m excited that I finally got it working. I’m the type who doesn’t like to go over every fine detail when using software; I’ll muddle through, and if I need the answer to something I’ll look it up specifically. I don’t want to make time to read documentation when the things I’m trying to do are simple and should be intuitive anyway.
So! I just have to finish up the color scheme on this layout and add a few sections and manage a little more content before I’ll be satisfied with the result.
After I’ve done all the basic stuff sitewise, I’d like to try out some new things as well. I’m looking forward to it.

I fooled around with WordPress some more and found out how to do exactly what it was I was complaining about last blog post. Who knew that only a little reading and a few searches could fix the problem? I thought that since it was so deep into the template I’d have to do a complete overhaul of the navigation’s code in order to get the effect I wanted. Not so.
Okay, now I can finally get back to putting the site together. Speaking of which, some of you might have noticed that parts of the site have been dismantled.
The H Gallery has been deleted.
I’ve been wanting to delete it for a few months now. I finally made a large backup of it and then promptly deleted it. Now, as I understand it a lot of people come to this site just for the gallery. Well, that’s nice and all, but it’s only a small part of hyperguy.net, and I never originally intended for it to get as large as it did.
It’s website restructuring time again and this time around I have a lot of content I need to put up and a whole batch of new ideas, all of which are dependent on site structure.
But WordPress is a blog with CMS features and a lot of it’s functionality just doesn’t make much sense to me.
I mean, structurally, as a blog, it all makes sense. You’re supposed to be able to make blog posts and be able to use different categories so that structurally people can find all of the blog posts that are related.
And then there’s custom pages you can add in addition to blog posts, but where it really gets nutty is that themes don’t automatically make navigation for blog post categories but do for custom pages.
So say I’ve got a bajillion blog posts I’ve made this year and I wanna put them all in one category named “Articles” and want that to automatically appear as a link in the site’s navigation. Turns out I can’t without either hard coding it or going through template tag mumbo jumbo just to get it to work.
Everything else about WordPress I absolutely adore, but little things like this really waste my time, that is, time I could use to pump out more content instead of having to wrestle with the layout.

Because the last layout felt particularly underwhelming. I never fancied myself as good with layouts so this time around I’m using a template(which I’ll probaby heavily modify).

Hyperguy.net is now five years old. Holy ship!
This site was first created on April 12th, 2003. Though the official birthday was last Saturday, I’m celebrating it now.
To celebrate I’ll be working on the layout some. Big deal, right? Not really. Layouts were never my strong point, but something has to be done and I’m tired of the lack of personality this current layout has. Plus I wanna make the site much more even if means just doing it a little bit at a time.
So, don’t freak if you find something out of place. And if you have a suggestion, I’m listening.

On the idea of meaningful sections I think I’m going to go for a once a month update scheme. I know, it doesn’t sound like much, but what I’d like to do is update several sections at a time every month.
Two sections I’d like to work on include a featured hentai series section and featured character section. Every month I’ve been telling everyone about h-games I’ve been playing anyway so I don’t see why I shouldn’t give it its own section and make it a reoccurring feature.

I added an ‘About’ page to the navigation. It’s amazing how long we’ve been without one.
Makes me wonder what people thought this site was really about when they first stumbled upon it…
It’s like 4chan, minus the community.

Why:
When these were first put up, Rumble Roses doujinshi was still considered scarce. However, now that it’s much more common a central location for downloading Rumble Roses doujinshi is no longer needed. Convenient, but no longer needed.
More importantly, the site’s disk quota has been used up. In order to introduce new content to other parts of the site some old content must be removed. (In this case, I wanted to upload the Thunder Warrior Raidy 2 CG set, but couldn’t because it’s 189 MB and we only have 66 MB left. O_o)
So, sorry Rumble Roses fans. At the least, there’s the possibility that these’ll be reposted at a later date in a convenient .rar format.
Also, this is no grand conspiracy. I’m coming flat out and saying that I’m taking stuff out of the gallery that isn’t Viper, Variable Geo, or Takehiro Kimura related.
I originally was planning on doing away with the gallery completely in favor of readding everything as direct downloads in the shop, but didn’t after relizing how convenient searching for pictures is in the gallery.
I mean seriously, who doesn’t love being able to search Akira and getting 11 pages of pics? (Nevermind that each pages only shows 10 at a time. ~_~)
EDIT!
I looked through my logs and found that I had over 300 MB of storage space used up by spam mail. I promptly deleted it, and had more than enough space left over to do what it was I wanted to do before.
And then I turned around and deleted all of the Rumble Roses doujinshi from the gallery anyway! MWHA HA HA HA! Where’s your sense of justice now, huh?! There’s no happy times in Mudberry now, I just struck out your star pitcher!
In all seriousness, this’ll lead to more direct downloads. Yay.

It’s easy. Even if it’s a slow news day, have something up, even if it isn’t your best.
Lord knows I’ve got oodles and oodles of content laying around my hard drive. Images and articles long stashed away, entire projects scrapped and catalogued, of which I thought I’d never bother with again. Until now.
Now all that’s left to do is put it up. I hope I have enough bandwidth for what I have planned…

I wasn’ t satisfied with the site’s last incarnation so I’ve slaughtered it in favor of a WordPress driven CMS.
In actuality, I’d like to rebuild Hyperguy.net and with a greater emphasis on content.
I felt like I was really being held back by the limitations of the last CMS, and it had lots of features I didn’t use . (Nevermind that I broke the database in an upgrade. >_> That, or Jawses’ lack of a support forum.)
Anywho, until I’m finished phasing it out, you can still visit the old Hyperguy.net. It’ll be up so long as I have content to salvage from it.
Just what does the future of this website hold?
I wish I could pull myself away from World of Warcraft long enough to at least speculate. I just switched to a PvP server and already got my warlock Zelmajin up to level 18. Man, there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Last month 9,146 visits to this site were done with a Playstation Portable. Around this time last year, people were visiting the site on their Dreamcasts. People with crazy operating systems like FreeBSD, Debian, and AmigaOS tend to visit too.
It probably won’t say in my stats if someone visits with a Nintendo DS, though it will probably show up as an Opera Web Browser.
